Even with all of the larceny and lying coming from the left, apathy still appears to be the prevailing political emotion from the loyal opposition. Apathy must be some kind of naturally occurring phenomenon, something that is seemingly a product of impersonal causation.. Apathy or an acceptance of the “status quo” can also be manufactured when necessary.
The vast majority of Americans are “naturally apathetic”. It’s “someone else’s problem”, “someone else will fix it”, “there is nothing that I can do about it”, “so what..” To those with an agenda (for example, someone with an agenda to supplant and subvert capitalism with socialism) these people are called the “conveniently cooperative” and their lack of effort and interest is greatly appreciated.. I’ll give the liberals this, when the left gets mad, they get moving. When the right gets mad, they sit down..
Apathy can be “created” which is then used to dissuade the justifiably outraged. (That would be you..) Their outrage initially sparks an urge and impulse for “action”, an action directed at bringing about a “change”. The intricacies that are intentionally interwoven into the faulty fabric of government (or within the fabric of ANY inordinately large organization..) serves as a series of sufficient detours and divergences. There is an endless myriad of greeters, secretaries and assistants within the limitless gamut of governmental bureaus, bureaucracies, agencies and offices, all with the daily task of shredding your letters and deleting your electronic mailings.. They seemingly exist to foment your feeling of futility..
It is a labyrinth created to spin you around and deposit you right where you were when you began your “David versus Goliath” endeavor.. (P.S. This is how the conservative pundit/publishing/syndication world works as well..)
Thus when one wants to assemble a group or organize a “tea party”, regardless of the need or the importance of the cause that is worth fighting for or against, the overwhelming undertow of apathy becomes an almost insurmountable obstacle..
Sisyphus had it easy..

Larry,
A great “thought for the day!” Thankyou, Larry for writing another great read.
I must confess that apathetic people drive me crazy. I’ve been criticized for being a ” black or white” person. People tell me I’m not gray enough. I say it’s either right or wrong. I suppose I could be called a radical of sorts.
I wonder at what point the average apathetic American adult will be shocked into action? What has to happen before people wake up? Or will they just pretend everything is fine, thank you, and do absolutely nothing!

Family,
I meant “diversions” instead of “divergences”..
I am too tired..
Happy Fourth to all of the Family.

Government is a master at creating apathy. Having worked for a county government for 22 years, I saw how that government worked to prevent people from making any progress. My job also required me to work with other governmental agencies which were about as helpful as a rubber crutch. They are just as obstructive with other government employees as they are with ordinary citizens. Fortunately, some of us are not about to let their “detours and diversions” stop us. We will remain “justifiably outraged”
until we slay Goliath.

Apathy has been used as a weapon of choice by many governments for a long time – because it works! The current admin. depends on it, along with their lies and deception , plus outrageous tax schemes. Then when we are beaten down, they will have WON, and they will be in control. Which, after all , that is what they really want. And , thanks to Al Franken and Arlen Spector, they are on their way !! God help us.
On the bright side, let’s celebrate the 4th, and remember what it really stands for.

Larry,
As usual, your insight and way with words never cease to amaze me.
I work in a real estate office. After hearing about how the “cap and tax” is going affect an already very slow real estate market, I asked the President of the company if he had heard about it and his answer was no. He is in charge of new construction and I just couldn’t believe that he was unaware of this. People need to wake up and soon!
Happy Independence Day to everyone and I hope the Family has a safe and enjoyable holiday.

Shocking news today. I pray she knows what she is doing. I do understand why. When you spend so much time trying to defend yourself, you cannot get a whole lot of work done. I’ll pray for you and your family Sarah. You are a good and honest woman; you don’t deserve any of this crap.
The liberal idea of apathy seems to be I care, I’m concerned now get the fuck out of my way. They really have little issue of helping those who seek to better themselves and the liberals try like hell to erase that sentiment from their vocabulary.
I think during the election and after Biden was announced as VP. We saw a few times where Joe was trying to be empathetic that turned into apathetic with disastrous results. Do you remember when he was pretending to care about the fellow liberal where he went on with the usual liberal spiel? He announces a man, Missouri state Sen. Chuck Graham, “stand up so everyone one can see you” and Chuck being wheelchair bound was unable to stand up.
Or another “Jill and I had the great honor of standing on that stage, looking across at one of the great justices, Justice Stewart.” –Joe Biden, mistakenly referring to Justice John Paul Stevens. Or this one is a personal favorite of mine… “Look, John’s (McCain) last-minute economic plan does nothing to tackle the number-one job facing the middle class, and it happens to be, as Barack says, a three-letter word: jobs. J-O-B-S, jobs. Or here’s another favorite…
“You cannot go to a 7-11 or a Dunkin’ Donuts unless you have a slight Indian accent…. I’m not joking.” –Joe Biden, in a private remark to an Indian-American man caught on C-SPAN, June, 2006
I think if he was being honest he wouldn’t have made so many campaign gaffs, where he has trouble with facts, no knowledge of why he’s there. He’s like that crazy uncle who sits in the corner drinking beer. When he falls asleep he starts farting and the room breaks out in laughter. Like my Uncle Joe, after stuffing his pie hold with turkey and the assortment of other goodies at Thanksgiving, he goes into the den to watch football games and within 5 minutes he’s snoring and farting up a storm. Suddenly someone opens a window and he wakes up and wonders why it’s so cold.
When liberals try to pretend they care (remember all those phony happy smiles from Pelosi, Hillary when they pretend to see someone in the audiences. They recognize the face but can’t recall from where, it turns out to be a waitress or bell boy) it comes out rather false and disingenuous and only shows they’re trying to get attention to their get votes. Just ask me I care and let me pull the one guy I helped 35 years ago. One in how many million who sought help and never got it during the years he wasn’t running for re-election.
The campaigning artificial and insincere kissing babies, taking pictures and pretending to love “the people” even when one of them spits up all over her favorite leisure suit. You know what will be said on the way back to the hotel and the “real” nasty Nancy and horrible Hillary make a rare personal appearance.

Happy Independence Day!
We are not as free as we were last year.
We are more free today then we will be next year.
Next year we may not be free at all.

Larry and Family:
I find the following from the Rasmussen Reports
very encouraging:
“Americans Still Embrace Ideals from Declaration of Independence
Friday, July 03, 2009
Americans are celebrating the nation’s 233rd birthday, and the words of the Declaration of Independence will be heard at countless patriotic ceremonies across the land. The core ideals articulated by those words are still embraced by solid majorities of the American public.
A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 89% of American adults agree that “we are all endowed by our Creator with certain unalienable rights among them life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” Only seven percent (7%) disagree on that founding premise.
Seventy-four percent (74%) agree with the assertion that “all men are created equal” while just 23% disagree.
Fifty-six percent (56%) agree with the view that governments derive their only just authority from the “consent of the governed.” Interestingly, one-in-four Americans (25%) disagree.
Other survey data shows that voters nationwide overwhelming trust the American people to make key decisions more than they trust political leaders. Those who disagree and hold a Political Class perspective represent a small minority of the population.
When presented with a choice of five Founding Fathers, 40% of American adults were able to correctly identify John Hancock as the first man to sign the Declaration of Independence in 1776. Sixteen percent (16%) thought that honor belonged to Thomas Jefferson, the primary author of the document.
Ten percent (10%) thought George Washington signed first, but he was not even present for that event. Washington led the rag-tag colonial army against what was then the world’s mightiest power. Finally, in 1781, the British surrendered, and the Declaration of Independence became true independence. It took another six years before the Constitution of the United States became the framework for our government. At that convention, Washington was the chairman, and the Constitution was drafted with him in mind as our first president. ”
The numbers are in our favor.

It’d be nice if certain 4-letter words were excised from the postings. F—, for one. Thanks.
